The report also says that the trend of growth of youth unemployment "will have serious consequences, because the new group of young people who will enter the labor market, will join the already unemployed."The authors warn: "The crisis has left a legacy in the form of a" lost generation "- young men thrown from the labor market and have lost hope to earn money for a decent life."

From 2008 to 2009, the youth unemployment rate in the Developed Economies and the European Union grew by 4.6% in Central and South-Eastern Europe - by 3.5%.It is the largest annual increase in youth unemployment ever recorded in any region of the world.The level of youth unemployment in the developed countries and the European Union in 2009 reached 17.7% - the highest rate among the regions of the world, fixed for the duration of the regional assessments (since 1991).

In most regions, young women have suffered more than others from unemployment.Exceptions were only the developed countries and the EU member states, where unemployment among young men was higher: between 2007 and 2009, unemployment among youths has increased by 6.8 percentage points compared to 3.9 percentage points among girls.

In some countries, such as Spain and the United Kingdom during the crisis was an increase in economic inactivity (inactivity) of young people.This leads to increased frustration among the young people, who as a result of rising unemployment left looking for work.
