Valuable orientations as the driving force of our behavior

Even at the dawn of philosophy, people thought that forms the basic value orientation of the individual, what is their hierarchy and how values influence attitudes of man.Paradoxically, these debates do not cease to this day.Are our value system innate, or imposed by society as a result of education, in which a percentage of a person chooses their own, and in which - the value systems are the product of pressure from society and social mimicry on the part of the individual?

no need to have to prove that the man came out of animal protection. And therefore from the animal world it has a lot of attitudes that determine its value orientation: it is, above all, the preservation of life and procreation. As man evolved from primates living in the herd, we also have a value-desire for power, which may be expressed in various forms - by the sadistic desires to humiliate others, to passionarity. And if we talk about the alpha, beta and gamma individuals in the animal world, why not be honest and we do not suggest that the same mechanisms are driven and the representatives of the species homo sapiens?Similarly, we are driven by the instinct of procreation, which indirectly leads to our aesthetic values (who should be considered attractive for sexual partnerships), economic (the accumulation of vital goods to transmit to their descendants), political (the desire to streamline life as opposed to chaos and anarchy), and so on.

However, people - a "zoon politikon" social animal, and therefore society imposes its individual values and value orientation. This can be seen from the fact that in society there are certain classes and strata, so there are values of members of these classes and strata. You can talk about the value orientations of the hippies and "yuppies" of the values of peasants and workers, deeply religious people and atheists. On the formation of attitudes also affect "mass unconscious" - the paradigmat in which a person was brought up from childhood.

How are our relations to the relatively stable material and spiritual wealth, values, ideals, which, in turn, serve as a reference point in our lives and guide our behavior? On their education affects society as a whole, the environment, education and personal experience of man. Many value orientations form the collective unconscious, the dominant society atityudom.Growing up, the child quickly begins to distinguish between the declared values of society professed by the majority of the population. So, 70 years of the last century, the reign of "developed socialism", the youth called "doublethink".Every society has its own set of values, which it attracts individuals. It would seem that all people should be similar values of life: success, wealth, beauty, happiness. As for the relationship to material goods, the value orientation may be "make and buy," and can "steal and drink."After all, what is "success in life": to fulfill themselves or buy cash position and do nothing? What is the "wealth": personal comfort or throwing dust in the eyes? What is "beautiful": the style of kitsch or expensive?

How stable is the value orientation? With that, they move us in behavioral terms, they change with age. But, nevertheless, we are all guided by the desire to do good.Only here, "good" is understood by us in different ways.Well - it's good and profitable for us (even for evil to others), and it is benefiting others, even by self-sacrifice?No wonder the religious people ask the question: where we have a concept of "good", if not from the One who makes us human, prompting to seek good and do good "just because."
