The behavior of people in emergency situations

behavior of people is always under scrutiny psychology. There is even a separate branch of psychological science, entirely dedicated to this issue. In addition, there are such branches as the psychology of behavior of men and women separately, the psychology of the child's behavior and animals. And this is not a complete list of disciplines associated with the behavior. But the most interesting from the point of view of science, it is irrational behavior that can be observed in the event of an emergency.Nowhere is it done so many contradictory actions!

One of such actions can be attributed to panic. It usually starts with one person, and in a short time is able to cover quite a large group. It's always a negative impact on the rescue measures. After all, such behavior not only disrupt and demoralize the crowd, but also makes it completely unmanageable. And as far as we know, a man in a state of fear is able to make absolutely unusual actions, which often lie outside its capabilities in normal life.Is it worth talking about tens and hundreds of panicked, because their power is beyond description. In this case, the behavior of people subject to "herd instinct".

But sometimes the exact opposite (though this is not the large gathering of people) that in the event of a life-threatening situation like a man suddenly put on a mask of composure. It becomes reasonable, and his actions are just as fast, but, in contrast to the behavior of panic, rational. In addition, there may come a stupor. In this case, the person (or persons) will be in a state of stupor and did not make any attempt to resolve the situation.

Therefore, the behavior of people in an emergency situation can be divided into two groups carrying a positive character and bearing negative (pathological) character. In the first case they say about the adaptation to the environment. In the second case, people's behavior is due not only to lack of adaptation itself, but also with a complete disorientation. That is why people just panicked rush about in fear, and do not try to at least do something for the sake of their salvation. To appeal to such people, in most cases, it is useless.

Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that in the case of an emergency, you should by all means avoid sinking the crowd into a panic. In such cases, the behavior of people must be motivated by personal example, specially trained personnel, who must not only supervise the actions, but also to produce them.It is also important to provide employment.Any activity, particularly aimed at ensuring the survival, can distract a person from disturbing thoughts and prevent the emergence of panic.

Special personnel shall take place not only special physical and medical training (in order, if necessary, be able to help others), but also psychological, aimed at suppressing fear and preserving the ability to communicate in critical circumstances.
